Samuel Adams Bottle Recall Information

From: M.E. Fox & Company, Inc.
Please read the guidelines below in regards to the voluntary recall of certain bottles of Samuel Adams Beer:
- The Boston Beer Company is voluntarily recalling certain products because of a small number of defective bottles supplied to the company by an outside vendor from one of its glass plants. There is nothing wrong with the beer.
- The bottle defects were identified during a routine quality inspection at the Samuel Adams brewery in Cincinnati. Significantly less than 1% of the bottles from the identified plant are likely defective and could contain grains or shards of glass.
- For more information download this PDF file How to check your Samuel Adams Bottle
- The possibility of injury to a consumer is very low, and we have had no reports of any injury. However, the product is being recalled as it obviously does not meet the company’s quality standards.
- The recalled product is fairly easy to detect. There is an embossed “N35” on the base of the bottles.
- The N35 bottles are not confined to any particular Samuel Adams styles, and distributors will be assisting retailers to check all bottles in all packages that may contain N35 bottles (see list of codes provided by Boston Beer). Draft beer and Samuel Adams beer in non-N35 bottles are fine, as are all Twisted Tea packages.
- Samuel Adams products with N35 markings must be pulled immediately and stored in the back room, clearly marked HOLD. They should NOT be sold.
- Distributor reps will collect the affected product as soon as possible and exchange the affected product for Sam Adams beer bottles that are not affected which have been inspected and can be sold.
- The recall affects only about 25% of all Boston Beer Company inventory currently on the shelves nationally, so once the recalled beer has been pulled, retailers should tell customers that they can have full confidence that their Samuel Adams beer adheres to the highest quality standards.
- If retailers or consumers have further questions, the company has set up a Call Center. That number is 888-674-5159.
We appreciate your understanding and assistance in working with us to inspect all Samuel Adams packages and removing affected beer from your shelves and display.
